Being a fan of Tim Burton's work I was please when I stumbled across this book. However I was rather disappointed, while the book does show of some character sketches and set designs it is rather technical and crammed with text with not many large scale images. This book would please people more interested in storyboards and stop motion animation as well as those interested in to what goes into creating a film such as voice acting and musical scores. The storyboard also contains a lot of stills from the film, which left me feeling that I was better off just watching the film rather than reading the book, especially as it was accompanied by song lyrics and dialogue. Despite this the book is interesting, it just takes a bit more investment into reading it fully.

If you like Tim Burtons film the Corpse Bride then this is the perfect compainion, drawings by Tim Burton, pictures of the film set everything you could want to see or know about it.The back of the book says -'This inspired volume showcases spectacular movie stills, sketches, paintings, and Tim Burtons own drawings. Covering pre-production, productio and post-production, sections detail character realization, set developments and construction, puppet fabrication, costuming, and stop motion filming - all the wonderful intricacies of the elaborate process. The books final part retells the films story in images with synopsis, storyboards, and lyrics.'

This is a beautifully produced behind the scenes book.Full of great artwork and information on the design and making of The Corpse Bride. My only disappointment was that it doesnt show much of the workings of the puppets, with their intricate mechanisms.Although it's understandable that Mackinnon Saunders (the puppet makers)don't want to give away their trade secrets,I would have loved to have seen more of them.Having said that,if you are a fan of the film or of production and character design you should love this book.Author Salisbury, as always, writes in an entertaining and informative way.

This is a small book but with lots of info & concept art of the film. Nice to add to any animation-collection.
