I find this book inspiring and captivating and one I keep returning to. The collections of beach objects are artistically selected, assembled and laid out, the shapes and textures are incredibly satisfying. If you're not already a beachcomber this book will open your eyes to a world of pebbles, shells, seaweed, tumbled glass and wood. Even man-made metal and plastic items out of their normal context take on a strange new beauty. Above all this book encourages you to really look at the things around you, and because of that it is a book that keeps on giving. I've made a gift of this several times and keep a copy by my bed and dip into it for a visual treat from time to time. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I've been a beach comber for at least half my life, but it never occurred to me that there'd be books about it out there. I received this one for my birthday, at the end of 2011, and soon became fascinated. My only regret is that it doesn't carry on forever... The photographs are fantastic, the writing thoughtful and dotted with interesting bits and bobs of knowledge, whether scientific or experiential, and the book overall feels solid, elegant, pure joy. I can't wait to get something else by the same author, who must be a kindred spirit!
