    Book details

This structured course in landscape painting encourages amateur artists to paint pictures right from the start, rather than brush strokes or laying a wash. The book is divided into three main sections - the first looks at the practical aspects of watercolour painting, the second encourages students to develop their own style while the third shows how to paint the many different elements of the landscape. The course includes numerous exercises which highlight the key points covered in each chapter. 12 demonstrative paintings are included.

Very good for a penny, old but still useful information.

David Bellamy's a great artist, and I find his books excellent for teaching, and so easy to follow. I cannot recommend him enough.Excuse the pun but "They are an art in themselves."

Great book - absolutely fab! Fantastic pictures and simple explanation at the same time! I am not new in watercolour but this book is very useful for me.My only warning - it is absolutely the same book as "Watercolour Landscape Course - The Bestselling Guide to Successful Landscapes" by David Bellamy - unfortunately I was confused with the different pictures on the covers and ordered this book too. The table of contest is identical and every page is the same - it is just earlier version ... I have already bought the latest publishing of this book with the summer cottage on the cover. If you want to save money and do not buy the new one - this option is for you. The price of used book is just symbolic and the quality is good. Fast delivery, carefully wrapped.I guess I should present or donate my extra copy of the same book to someone else :)

A sudden urge come over me to have a go at watercolour painting, so I went in search of what I thought would be a suitable book to start me on the right track until I could enrol in an evening class. David Bellamy's Watercolour Landscape Course: From First Steps to Finished Paintings looked perfect to me.I liked the fact that you were not bogged down in painting colour wheels and just mixing colours before you got to paint anything. With just a basic set of colours and a couple of brushes, David encourages you to paint - even on the back on an envelope if you haven't got proper watercolour paper. The demonstrations are easy to follow and the exercises gradually increase in difficulty to stretch you. When I did finally join an evening class, the tutor was impressed with what I had achieved from reading a book. I still refer to it on a regular basis for hints and tips. It's well worth a read.
