an old fashioned book for people who like a true to life story complete with all the highs and lows. lots of situations which encourage the reader to consider another's point of view in a thoughtful way. Not an hysterical book screaming at you to become dramtical on anyone's behalf. a good story to encourage younger able readers to broaden their thinking of the world generally without the need for tedious "youth speak"

My mother had this book as a child in the 1940s and gave it to me to read as a child I loved it and loved lad and cried and cried at parts of the book. In turn I read it to my elder daughter a few years back who also loved it. It's not fabulous fiction, but it is a fantastic story - about an amazing dog and is well worth a read.

I was very glad to see this book on kindle as I have loved it since I was a child. The story of Lad, Lady and the Place inspired me to love collies and to own them later when I was old enough. A classic and I hope many more generations will come to enjoy the adventures of Lad, The Master and The Mistress.
