This is the story of Alexander Selkirk, Scottish mariner and adventurer, who was delighted to be rescued by passing sailors after four years alone on a Pacific island. The story tells how Selkirk came to be stranded on the island in 1705, and how he survived - the story of the real Robinson Crusoe.

An excellent edition (2004) from publisher, who produce well-made slim volumes about individual historical characters. This is an easy read, in what I think is Ariel 10 typeset, obviating any need for large print editions. A lucid account by writer Amanda Mitchison. Reading this, you will discover all you need to know about the survival of Scotsman Alexander Selkirk, who found himself marooned on Juan Fernandez Island in the South Pacific, several hundred miles from anywhere, after being put ashore unceremoniously in that uninhabited place, by the captain of the sailing ship Cinque Ports, for being a troublemaker.
