    Book details

What would you do if all your favourite foods and beverages were brutally taken off the menu in one fell swoop? After a medical diagnosis of Barrett’s Oesophagus turned her culinary world upside down, rather than focus on what she couldn’t eat, Lisa Stanley set out on a mission to create tasty, easy, inexpensive dishes that she could!"No alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, fatty food, fried food, spicy food, tomato, citrus, ice-cream or mint.Basically, everything that I had loved to eat or drink previously was unceremoniously taken off my menu and it was depressing, to say the least", Lisa says, "But it didn't get me down for long. I chose to become proactive about avoiding foods that worsen my condition and increasing foods that heal, aid digestion, decrease inflammation and fight cancer."Lisa combined her passion for health, research, experimentation and cooking to recreate her favourite dishes. Aware that others all over the world are trying to live with similar restrictions, she decided to share her recipes – and “Rewrite the Menu” was born.In addition, Lisa made a personal choice to avoid refined sugar, wheat and dairy – as these add to inflammation in the body – so as well as being perfect for sufferers of Barrett's and Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), her recipes are also suitable for those on a gluten free and/or dairy free diet.If your Doctor has set you on a similar course, don’t despair! Once you get in to the swing of making these easy, tasty recipes you will no longer feel deprived and you will realise that the party doesn’t have to be over.In fact, it may well have just begun!

Lisa Stanley is a mother of twins living on Australia’s Gold Coast. She is passionate about food, health, and eating for mental and physical well-being. Never one to merely follow a recipe, she is at her happiest creating new taste sensations in her kitchen for her family and friends to enjoy.

The recipe ideas are not very imaginative, lots of ingredients that I find it hard to get in UK supermarkets. There are also lots of ingredients in the recipes that are not good for Gastric Reflux. Probably only one or two recipes I would use from the whole book.
