    Book details

When the body of an MI5 operative is found floating in the Thames, police frogmen find a significant clue nearby: Nikolai Sereyev, an MI5 informer and mid-level player in a Russian criminal organisation. Both men have been brutally murdered.

Andrew Harvey is tasked with finding his colleague’s killer, and quickly uncovers a plot to assassinate a visiting dignitary on British soil. No sooner has he scraped the surface of the case than the tables are turned and he becomes a pawn in a game of international brinkmanship that leads all the way to the Kremlin.

Harvey’s girlfriend, Sarah, also a secret service operative, is hot on his trail, but when she too becomes compromised, security chief Veronica Ellis knows there is only one man she can turn to. He’s a loose cannon, but she needs his help to rescue her agent and prevent a full-blown international incident.

The trouble is, Tom Gray has gone to ground. Finding him is just the beginning.

This book is the sixth in the series but can be enjoyed equally as a standalone novel.

Now finished all six Tom Gray books, read back to back on a beach holiday. What a roller-coaster ride.Excellent entertainment, gripping stories with a real 'this could happen' element.SPOILER ALERTIs Alan McD really going to leave Tom Gray bringing up baby in Italy, or will he (like Lee Child has with Reacher) wind back the clock and reveal some Tom Gray adventures from his past?

As always Alan McDermott kept me on the edge of my seat with the latest installment of the Tom Gray series, (hoping its not the last). Its a gripping read as the plot of the book isnt far fetched, and just when you think the team are a few steps closer to catching the guys something happens to drag them one step back, or political red tape and reputation frustratingly get in the way. I highly recommend this book and the five before it to anyone that likes alot of action and detail in their reads x

I truly was worried that I might be let down after enjoying each of the earlier Gray novels but I was not disappointed. It just meant thAt I lost more sleep because I just had to get through each encounter. The trouble is each problem/horror/joyous moment link so well that it's difficult to know when to put the book down.

I have now read all the books in the series they are a gripping read did not want to put them down . Story flowed excellently from book to book but you must start with number one as you would not get the flow otherwise. I hope he writes some more in the series. Once again excellent reading .

Bedtime, good armchair, waiting for a train or a bus ... easy to keep reading. I've no idea how remotely accurate they may be in reflecting real life governmental departments and I don't really care ... I'd read the next in the series if it was available.

This is a review about the series 1-6 rather than just the last book. I've just finished them all back to back & they have been unputdownable.......It's a great series, twisting & turning at each opportunity. Tom Gray is a likeable albeit very "handy" kind of guy, with great friends who you'd live to have in your own team. I just hope there is more to come from Tom & his team of friends, please don't leave him in "retirement" in Italy Alan McD 🤗

Gray is a reluctant hero, and gets into plenty of trouble, as usual, but with a great dedicated team of specialised people behind him he gets the job done and then some. Love the detail and suspense in Alan's books. Can't wait to read the next Gray adventure
